STAMFORD Magazine’s 4th Annual Best Bartender Contest

 STAMFORD Magazine hosted the 4th Annual Best Bartender Contest Presented by Harbor Point to Benefit the Waterside School

 STAMFORD, Connecticut—On June 15, 2016, STAMFORD Magazine hosted the 4th annual Best Bartender competition at Harbor Point’s waterfront patio. The evening, spent on the Long Island Sound, included dishes from Stamford’s finest restaurants, complemented by signature cocktails from the participating bartenders. The attendees voted for their favorite cocktails, and for the first time there was a tie for the win between Judy Roll of Judy’s Bar & Kitchen and Jill Rotanelli of Fortina. Both will be featured in the September/October issue of STAMFORD Magazine.

Featuring seasonal cuisine, exclusive hand-crafted cocktails, and live calypso music, the event epitomized the perfect summer evening, complete with a beautiful waterfront backdrop. “What a fantastic night it was,” says Camilla Herrera, editor of STAMFORD Magazine. “It was a celebration of summer, a celebration of good times with friends, and with all these fine restaurants participating, a celebration of our great city and its people.

“That we had a tie made it all the more exciting and fun.”

A portion of the ticket sales benefited the Waterside School of Stamford, an independent co-educational day school that seeks to serve all children regardless of limitations in income or circumstance. For more information about the Waterside School, please visit www.watersideschool.org.

The Best Bartender Contest served as a platform for local restaurants and businesses to showcase themselves. Sponsors included Harbor Point, Sign of the Whale, Brother Jimmy’s BBQ, Del Frisco’s Grille, Judy’s Bar + Kitchen, Cask Republic, Bom Bom Liquors, Cantina, Paloma, Bareburger, Horseneck Wines, and VOSS Artesian water. The event had a turnout of about 350 people and was a night to remember for all.

 

Moffly Media’s 12th Annual Best of the Gold Coast Connecticut Presented by Stella Artois to Benefit Kids in Crisis

 STAMFORD, Conn. – (June 23, 2016) – Moffly Media’s highly anticipated 12th Annual Best of the Gold Coast Connecticut party Presented by Stella Artois will benefit Kids in Crisis and take place at the Hilton Stamford Ballroom on Thursday, July 28th from 6:00-9:30 p.m.

“We are grateful for Moffly Media’s ongoing support of Kids in Crisis. Events such as The Best of the Gold Coast not only provide us with critical financial support, but also boost awareness of the programs and services we provide to the children and families who need them most in our community,” said Shari Shapiro, Executive Director of Kids in Crisis. A portion of the evening’s proceeds are donated to Kids in Crisis.

The evening honors the best of everything – from restaurants to retail, spas, bands, and more – that Fairfield County has to offer! Moffly Media’s 7th Annual “Best of Greenwich” at The Delamar Greenwich Harbor

On Monday, August 8th, l’escale and the Delamar Greenwich Harbor hosted Moffly Media’s 7th Annual Best of Greenwich event.  Attendees had a beautiful night to experience the best that Greenwich has to offer with fun cocktails, delicious hors d’oeuvres and live music!

The Best of Greenwich winners were voted by the readers of Moffly Media’s own Greenwich Magazine.  The complete list of winners can be found in Greenwich Magazine’s July issue, on newsstands now. A portion of the proceeds from this exquisite event benefitted The Junior League of Greenwich.

The Junior League of Greenwich is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of volunteers.

“Seeing the pages of our magazine come to life at our Best of Greenwich party is so special,” says Cristin Marandino, Greenwich magazine’s editor. “Greenwich is a unique town and it’s very meaningful to us to be able to celebrate all of the people and businesses that make it the best place to live.”

athome Magazine Presented the 7th Annual A-List Awards at The Stamford Center for the Arts – Palace Theatre to Rave Reviews

Stamford, CT- September 14, 2016 – Moffly Media presented the 7th Annual athome magazine A-List Awards on Thursday, September 8th to a packed house of over 500 guests! Fairfield County’s premiere home design competition was held at the beautiful Stamford Center for the Arts – Palace Theatre. An elegant cocktail reception was held before the event with hors d’oeuvres by The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s, bottled water by Voss, and desserts by DiMare Pastry. For the second year in a row, the awards presentation was hosted by New York Times best-selling author and home design enthusiast Jane Green. A portion of the ticket proceeds benefitted Habitat for Humanity.

The event was made possible by presenting sponsors Cornerstone Contracting, Ed’s Garage Doors, Gowrie Group, Hobbs, Incorporated, Lillian August, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, and Prutting & Company.

Finalists and winners were selected by a panel of distinguished judges including: Jesse Carrier, Mara Miller, Russell Groves, Richard Hartlage, Richard Mishaan, Alex Papachristidis, Jennifer Post, Edward Siegel and Keith Williams. The celebrity judges revealed the winner in each category on the Harman Stage, and a dynamic video presentation highlighting all of the finalists was created by P Garyn Productions and accompanied by music by Kunjan Collective.

During the awards ceremony, an introduction by athome’s creative/editorial director Amy Vischio and opening remarks by Jane Green both reinforced the mission of the A-List Awards, which is to celebrate the area’s best work and bring the design community together. “I believe that when we compete, our work gets better, and when we are genuinely good sportsmen, we, are better,” says Vischio. “I’m completely interested in making our very own design community the best it can be in ways that go beyond aesthetics.”

Brendan Fee & Darien Social Win Darien’s Best Bartender Contest

New Canaan-Darien & Rowayton magazine presented the inaugural Darien’s Best Bartender Contest, a community happy hour benefiting the Community Fund of Darien.

DARIEN, Conn. (September 26th 2016)

On Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 New Canaan – Darien & Rowayton Magazine presented its first Best Bartender competition in Darien’s scenic Grove Street Plaza. At the event local mixologists competed against each other to stir up their most creative signature cocktail, and guests voted for their favorites. The winner, Brendan Fee from Darien Social, won the competition with his innovative Spiked Cucumber Martini. Brendan will be featured in the November-December issue of the magazine, along with photos of guests and competitors.

Darien’s Best Bartender Contest also featured live music and seasonal light bites prepared by chefs from a variety of local restaurants, including Center Street Public House, Darien Social, Jimmy’s Southside Tavern, Ten Twenty Post, The Goose American Bistro & Bar and The Melting Pot. Wine was provided by Nicholas Roberts Fine Wine, and water was provided by Voss. Local Business Sponsors included Carta McAlister & Moore LLC, Helen Ainson, Jaguar Darien, Land Rover Darien, Le Boudoir and Pure Barre Darien. Flowers were provided by The Gardener’s Center and Florist. Drinks and light bites were also served in the lovely, open-air venue at Grove Street Plaza. The event had a turnout of 200+ people and was a night to remember for all.  “We were so thrilled to see so many people come out for our first annual event. We look forward to bringing this event to the Darien community for years to come” says Gabriella Mays, Publisher of New Canaan-Darien & Rowayton and Westport magazines.

The event was produced by New Canaan-Darien Magazine’s parent company, Moffly Media, which created the Best Bartender competition in Stamford, now an annual contest that draws guests from around the county.

The Community Fund’s Executive Director Carrie Bernier said “The Community Fund of Darien is the proud beneficiary of Darien’s “Best Bartender” event. We are grateful for the generosity of Moffly Media in donating 100 percent of the ticket sales to The Community Fund, and we will use the funds to meet our mission of building the safety net and meeting the critical human services needs of our most vulnerable residents in the greater Darien community.” The 65-year-old organization makes grants to local nonprofits to ensure that critical services such as food, shelter and mental health are accessible and affordable to residents in Darien, Stamford and Norwalk. Greenwich Restaurant Week Kicks off November 11th

GREENWICH, Conn. (October 19th, 2016)

The 3rd Annual Greenwich Restaurant Week begins on November 11th, 2016.  More than 30 local restaurants are participating and offering special deals and promotions throughout the 10 day celebration! We encourage friends, family, and colleagues from Greenwich, our surrounding towns, and NYC to dine out and book parties all week long. Greenwich Restaurant Week follows the success of recent Moffly Media signature events such as the Best of the Gold Coast and the Best of Greenwich, making this a week you do not want to miss!

The festivities for this annual foodie event kick off on Thursday, November 10th with an exclusive Opening Night Cocktail Party at The J House from 6-9 p.m. The party will set the stage for a full week of culinary adventure all across town! Top chefs will be rolling out the red carpet with prix-fix lunch and dinner menus, and diners will be reaping the spoils of special wine flights, signature drinks, desserts, and other enticements.

James Naughton, Veteran Tony Award Winning actor, director, philanthropist Returns to Host Moffly Media’s 9th Annual Light a Fire Awards

Westport, CT – November 9, 2016 – Moffly Media will celebrate the 9th annual Light a Fire Awards on Thursday, November 17th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. This unique event, aimed at celebrating our community’s nonprofit and philanthropic leaders, will be held at the Westport Country Playhouse. The evening’s festivities will include hors d’oeuvres catered by Marcia Selden Catering and Event Planning.  A portion of the night’s tickets proceeds will benefit the Fairfield County Community Foundation.

Light a Fire will salute individuals and organizations from across lower Fairfield County who have gone beyond the ordinary to extraordinary in their giving back to our community. From philanthropists and volunteers to organizations helping families, children and other members of our communities, the honorees are truly unique. Representatives from the area’s nonprofit organizations, philanthropists, volunteers, corporate donors, and board members, along with local dignitaries and VIPs will all be in attendance.

Light a Fire nomination ballots appeared on the Moffly Media website this past March and April. Local residents were asked to submit nominations for noteworthy individuals and organizations. From the many submissions, 11 honorees were selected based on the contributions they have made to help those in need in Fairfield County. CORPORATE SALES DIRECTOR

We’re looking for a highly motivated hands-on sales manager with specific media industry experience that can manage and build a top performing sales team within a rapidly growing company. This person will have experience leading traditional and digital sales efforts in all phases, from target account list management, through account planning, sales strategy development, and closing deals. RESPONSIBILITIES

Coach & Mentor Sales Staff

  • Teach problem solving and idea generation to Sales Directors to better service their customers;

  • Create a repeatable process to generate consistent sales results;
  • Create a consistent approach for sales presentations and communications;
  • Part of the coaching and mentoring responsibility is calling on accounts when needed.

  • Holds individuals and the team accountable to goals;

The Sales Assistant is both creative and process-oriented at the same time. The candidate has a burning desire to learn about sales and marketing and to develop their abilities.

Role Expectations

  • Work closely with the Account Executives to support business growth through servicing customers ;
  • Work closely with the Marketing Director to provide materials and proposals for account executives to drive business;
  • Build relationships with team members at all levels of the organization from assistants to C-level executives;
  • Respond quickly to customers’ needs and requests; provide outstanding levels of service;
  • Attend and assist in consumer and professional events where existing and prospective customers are present in order to generate new leads and opportunities;
  • Prospect customers through phone calls and emails to develop business;
  • Proactively communicate status of accounts to management, including but not limited to pipeline activity, forecasting, customer needs and expectations;
  • Achieve identified goals for calls and service; and
  • Work in a professional manner at all times

Moffly Media is looking for a driven sales professional to join our team and grow our luxury categories for our magazine brands on the Gold Coast: Greenwich, Stamford, New Canaan-Darien-Rowayton, Fairfield Living, Westport-Weston-Wilton, and athome.

Duties and professional development include the following:

  • Good knowledge of the local Fairfield County market.
  • Preferred candidates live in lower Fairfield County.
  • Build and maintain advertising and sponsorship revenue for the brands by continually prospecting for new accounts, leads and sales opportunities on the phone and in person.
  • Service existing active accounts by maintaining contact with clients to ensure that we are meeting and/or exceeding their expectations.
  • Maintain a weekly call list, which includes prospects and clients contacted, scheduled meetings and likelihood of a signed contract, for review with publisher on a regular basis.
  • Use client research as a guide to prepare sales presentations, budget recommendations, and creative ideas for prospects and current clients.
  • Regularly review competitive media to identify prospects and opportunities.
  • Keep records in contact relationship database accurate and updated to support business.

  • Use event sponsorship and digital opportunities to generate revenue.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both with customers directly and with their agencies.
  • Build relationships in the community to assist the company brands reach goals.
  • Represent the company at client and company events to promote business.

Qualifications:

  • Results-oriented, motivated contributor who brings passion and an intrinsic drive to succeed.
  • Print advertising or digital sales experience required.
  • Prior local media sales experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Flexible schedule: remains cool under the pressure and demands of a sales cycle business
  • Wants to have fun and work with a great team.

Gardens at First Light

Stacy BassCelebrated garden photographer Stacy Bass has long called daybreak her true muse. For her second book, the award-winning artist went behind the gates of a dozen private gardens in the Northeast to capture these incredible landscapes in the most enchanting light of day. She’s curated the best images from each of these shoots into a volume filled with 200-plus color photographs. Gardens at First Light is one of the most spectacular collections of images in the nature photography category.

With Gardens at First Light, Bass offers a rare and privileged glimpse of a range of stunning private retreats located in some of the wealthiest enclaves in the country. Her work showcases a variety of garden types, from those taking root along serene shorelines to others blooming in rolling hills near open farmland. The diversity makes for a rich visual mix. Some gardens are grand in scale and others are more modest, yet the landscape design for each took years to come to fruition. Bass’s camera takes readers on an intimate tour of each property to tell the story of the individual gardens. She trains her lens on her subjects with the same care and attention that the gardeners lavished on their verdant flowers and foliage.

Photos are accompanied by text from Judy Ostrow. This seasoned journalist—who has been reporting on homes and gardens for two decades through work published in national magazines and books—talked to the owners of each garden to learn how the landscapes gradually came to life. Their stories will strike a chord with those who have a penchant for gardening, nature and design.

Gardens at First Light also contains an illustrated resource guide at the back of the book that offers additional information on the featured gardens. Hand-drawn sketches show a bird’s eye view of each property, and photos reveal how the landscape elements identified in the sketches look through Bass’s lens. Text presents insight on how the gardens took shape. The resource guide is to be used as a cross-reference for the book’s main chapters. It’s designed for readers who seek a broader understanding of the individual elements in each garden, and how they make up the whole. Though not a how-to planner, this section offers clarity and endless inspiration.

This is the second volume of garden photography from Stacy Bass. Her first book, In the Garden, was published in 2012 and became a bestselling title in its category. The book received critical acclaim from major publications in the home design and garden industry. Gardens at First Light is a sequel of sorts, only this new volume has been designed to offer readers an even more detailed look at gardens that are one-of-a-kind.
